With great anticipation, the NZ Navy and the Marlborough District Council, would like to invite the Marlborough community to a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Navy.
This is a unique opportunity to get to see a fantastic performance in our lovely new theatre, all for only $20.00 per person (Senior 65+ $15.00).
The complete history of the Royal NZ Navy
The 75th anniversary of the NZ Navy is a milestone which they are determined to take the opportunity to present this to New Zealanders.
The NZ Navy has a long association with Marlborough and they would like to engage with the community by way of a theatrical performance to be held in the new ASB theatre. On a national tour, this show is part of Operation Neptune's 75th Anniversary of the RNZN.
The theatrical and comedic talents of Gregory Cooper and Mark Hadlow, who together devised the uproariously funny MAMIL (Middle Aged Men in Lycra), have been at work again. Who else could be charged with bringing to life 'The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy' - who else would dare?!
This fast paced naval romp through the decades was penned by Cooper, who also performs in the show and is directed by Hadlow. Both exercise respect and sensitivity when called for but indulge their madcap humour at every opportunity.
From the arrival of Captain Cook in 1769 through to protecting trade routes against piracy around the Horn of Africa in 2015, 'The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy' navigates it's way around the world's oceans through song, satire and silliness.
Don't expect a history lesson, but don't be surprised if you learn something!
Marlborough is delighted to bring this rollicking performance to the Regent Theatre and invite you on board. Hold on to your senses, it's going to be one choppy ride!
