Another early Christmas present for Havelock this year with the removal of 7 large Pine trees at the Nelson side entrance boundary. The trees have long been a nuisance and a bit of an eyesore so its great to have them gone and the result looks fantastic.
Best of all the felled trees will be chopped and sold for firewood with the proceeds going towards the Havelock Community Boardwalk. Paul and Muff Newton have kindly offered some space on their farm to store the trees while we cut them down to firewood so make sure you say thanks to Paul and Muff next time you see them.
The Boardwalk sub-committee will shortly be organising a working bee to get the logs chopped and ready to be sold as firewood. If you would like to get involved and volunteer some time to help with the effort or have any ideas, flick me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know thanks.
I want to give a big thanks to MDC and particularly the Smart & Connected/Small Townships Committee who approved the job, thanks to Paul & Muff Newton, and to Marlborough Roads and Nelmac also.
