About The Plan
In 2015 the Havelock Community Association together with Havelock Smart & Connected, and Community Development Adviser Hans Neilson championed the development of the Havelock Community Plan.
The Plan captures the shared vision of the Havelock community and highlights key issues and projects that the town would like to see come to fruition over the next five to ten years. Never before has such a collaborative and inclusive engagement process taken place to determine a pathway forward for all of Havelock. The Havelock Community Plan represents the Havelock Community Association's commitment to the future of our community. The plan was developed through consultation with and active involvement by the Havelock community including: Background research, interviews, community forums & workshops, and a community survey. Many people have worked hard to have develop a draft plan to ensure the visions, values and projects the community have identified are represented one way or another to assist in the development of Havelock as a vibrant and sustainable community. |
How it WorksCommunity planning is about the local community determining its own future. Emphasis is placed on the views of the community, its local points of difference and the identification of opportunities that will ensure the community remains an attractive and desirable place in which to live, work and play.
The Havelock Community Plan has 4 strategic priorities. For each of these priorities there are a number of priority and future initiatives, and a set of key relationships. Any community member can choose to advance an initiative in the community plan and several working groups have already made a start. There is a lot of support available to anyone wanting to tackle a project in the community plan.
